This drawing was started at Great Falls National Park in VA. I started it on-site with two wonderful friends and fellow-artists. It was a beautiful day and we all sat down to draw the falls. After about 30 minutes, we all decided that sitting on the rocks just wasn’t too comfortable and we stopped drawing. But we each had the basic outline of the Falls and knew the perspective that we wanted.
Since then, I have continued working on the drawing, just a little each day and you can see where I am now…… You can also see that the water is flowing extremely fast – it’s flowing so fast that it’s pretty much rapids the whole way through. And I am struggling a little with how to draw the water. I just can’t seem to capture the power of the water.
Here’s the actual photo reference that I am using….
So, I have posted this on Wetcanvas (an artist forum) and have solicited comments from great artists around the world! Stay tuned…..
This is amazing! It makes my rocks look a lot more like blobs on paper…LOL! If you figure out how to capture the power of the water, please let us know.
totally agree with you.
